Thurmond Moves On To The Runoff With Endorsement From Third Place Finisher Lily Ploski

Dr. Lily Ploski today announced her endorsement of Tony Thurmond for State Superintendent of Public Instruction.  Ploski finished third in yesterday’s primary election contest for State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Ploski said:

“Today I endorse Tony Thurmond for State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Tony and I share the belief that a solid public education is the best foundation for success for California’s students, and that fully funding our public schools has to be our state’s top priority. I urge my supporters to get behind Tony’s progressive campaign to make California’s public schools the best in the nation.”

With ballots still to be counted, Thurmond and Tuck are the projected top two finishers who will advance to the General Election in November.  Thurmond said:

“I would like to thank the people of California for voting me into the top two runoff election for the office of State Superintendent of Public Instruction. We are going to continue to build up the progressive coalition behind this campaign to beat the DeVos billionaires in November. I look forward to running on the issues that resonate with California voters – increasing funding for our public schools, closing the achievement gap, investing in teachers, teaching creativity and critical thinking not teaching to the test, and preparing all of our students for college and careers in the 21st century.”
